Mina's Chart!!!

Mina spent a bunch of the day working on her "chart". The main happy-faced chart is a chart of all the people in the world. Another is of all the foods that they like to eat. I'm unsure of the other pieces exactly but they followed a similiar theme. As you can see by the three exclamation marks, she was making this with great delight.

Why Didn't I Think of That?

Sourdough Hotcakes

We have a new breakfast favourite to add to the collection. Sourdough hotcakes (sourdough recipe even included) from the Washingon Local and Seasonal Cookbook by Becky Selengut, -a former chef from The Herbfarm.

Our Winter Sleigh

We love anything that gets us out there and active as a family. Here's the latest tool - for our family Christmas gift, we bought the conversion kit for our biking trailer. This will be Mina's warming hut on snowshoe and XC ski trips. This will be the main ride for Mr Miles. We got it this afternoon and had to give it a test ride before dinner...especially considering the ski-on-and-off option will be gone by the end of the week.

We forgot our head lamps! Tomorrow night. This will be a cool way to go around and check out people's Christmas lights. Perhaps on Christmas Eve, we can even go out in costume.

FUN.

Snow Day Number Four

Practicing our wipe out.

Mamma and Mina on Snowshoes

We left the boys at home (one napping, one working) and hit the trails for some girl snowshoe time. Mina's new high-tech snowshoes are somewhere on their way here. So we pulled out our low-tech, but functional ones. We were out for a couple of hours - enjoying the peace of the woods, looking for signs of winter, running into friends and enjoying every step along the way.
Entering the park. Beautiful.

I forgot about the stairs in the one section that we went down. Mina figured the best way for herself, quickly and happily.

I did it!
Walking by the waterfall.

We took at thermos of blueberry tea and some homemade muffins. Mina rather liked the blueberry tea. I told her that she reminded me of Pooh bear and his honeypot.

Walking home.

A Snowy Sunday

Look at me. Just like Mina.

Oops! See Mina in the background.
Uhm. How come Mina makes this look so easy? I think that i will go back to playing with my truck.

St Nick

Lately i have a thing for "paper toys" and here is Mr. Claus himself. Or try origami Santa.

M&M enjoyed looking at these pictures of Santa from around the globe.

Things to do post-storm

Four ways to create luminarias from ice, fruit, flowers and items from your garden.

Create a quick and easy Cranberry centerpiece.

Snow = Fun

Today we went sledding in the park with friends.

Cool tree stump built for two.

Till next time. Please think warm and cozy thoughts for us - as we are on the eve of another windstorm. Who knows what adventures this will bring. I'm hoping that the power does not go out for a week this time!

Dumping of Snow

After much anticipation, we finally got the most snow that we've ever seen in Washington. We spent much of the day outside or warming up with cocoa.
Miles and his owl sledding down the driveway. Mina and neighbourhood crew are further up the cul-de-sac coming down the big hill.

Rich worked from home today. While Miles had his afternoon nap, i dashed out for a two hour XC ski all around the neighbourhood. It was SO MUCH FUN. This is me, leaving our driveway.
Going by our favourite hiking park. The picture below is in the park and i'm looking at the waterfall aka. "special place" for Mina and i.

Out on the trails. The picture below includes the library near our house. It is the white building in the middle-to-right. I've now driven, biked, run, walked and XC skiied to the library.

Larsen LakeThe (also closed) blueberry farm . I looped around the blueberry farms and started coming home. The fruitstand. Coming home.

Almost home... Can you see the school in this last picture? They have already cancelled school for tomorrow!

Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town!

"The Naked Chef"

I'm going to touch your camera with my buttery fingers Mamma!

Gingerbread House

I love the Gingerbread house kit from Trader Joes. It didn't come with a crazy amount of candy and you got to do a little step with the icing. I also like that it looks like a ski chalet or something. Bring on the snow!
